Executive Director
Stephanie Forman Morimura is the co-founder and Executive Director of The Morimura Fund. Originally from Philadelphia, USA, Stephanie has a BA in linguistics from the University of California, Berkeley, and an MS in educational linguistics from the University of Pennsylvania.
As a retired U.S. diplomat, she served in India, Japan, Switzerland, Turkey, Iceland and Washington, D.C. Her passion for promoting and fostering equity in global education opportunities was sparked when she served as Cultural Attache for Exchanges and Education at the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi, India, and as India Desk Senior Advisor for Public Diplomacy in the State Department, where she was involved in education policy, grant-making and bilateral education policy development. She was inspired by the astounding level of innovation and dedication demonstrated by students and educators, coupled with the scale of the challenge.
After leaving the U.S. Foreign Service, Stephanie, and her husband, Kenji, decided to create The Morimura Fund to foster innovation with small grants to educators and institutions in India and around the world.
